With the past 6 months seeing great progress in all areas, The Learjet 85 program is moving forward full speed ahead. The structural design validation has been completed, the technical team ramp-up is in progress, the technological readiness phase is well underway and the systems supply base is in place.
To date, the program has achieved significant milestones, including the completion of initial development wind tunnel testing, ongoing supplier agreements and the program build strategy. In addition, the joint definition phase has begun, major suppliers have been announced and the Learjet 85 mock-up was unveiled. Upcoming program milestones include completion of the technology readiness phase, start of the detail design review, and much, much more.
To ensure timely success of the program, Bombardier has assumed complete responsibility for the detail design and manufacturing of all primary and secondary structures for the Learjet 85. This reflects our strong commitment to the Learjet 85 program and to our customers.
To bring the Learjet 85 to market, we are drawing on our international expertise. The Learjet 85 Operations team at the Querétaro, Mexico site will manufacture the aircraft’s composite structure as well as the electrical harness and will perform subassembly systems installation. Our facilities in Wichita will also play a key role in the program.
Having successfully introduced a total of 24 aircraft programs since 1989, we look forward to introducing this new generation aircraft into service. To further strengthen and support the aircraft’s structural development, extensive use has been made of the new Bombardier Composite Advisory Council (BCAC), a group of internal and external industry experts which will provide technical input and guidance throughout the development activity.
With the program development on track, we are seeing our commitment to redefining the midsize business jet category move forward full speed ahead.
